YOU’LL FEEL COMFORTABLE: AFTER HOURS COVERAGE is provided by
our own office entirely, so you will always be speaking to people who are familiar with
your child. If your child has a potentially life-threatening emergency, please call 911.
Otherwise,, if you call our office after hours, you will reach our answering service and
they will notify one of our nurses or the doctor to help you by phone. The pediatrician on
call can be contacted immediately through the service if necessary. Please try as much as
possible to call us during office hours with medical questions or for medical advice, and
use AFTER HOURS calls for URGENT OR EMERGENCY medical advice. If we have not returned your
phone call within 15 minutes, please call again. When the Sarasota Children’s Clinic
is closed and after calling us and finding out that our recommendation is that your child
needs to be seen, you would then be referred to either Sarasota Memorial Hospital or
Doctor’s Hospital Emergency Room to be seen and treated by their emergency care
physician. Our practice physician would then be available to the ER physician for
consultation.. Patients who have been seen in the Emergency Room or have received phone advice after hours MUST have a FOLLOW-UP visit in our office the following day to assure good continuity of care. Occasionally , patients may be seen on Sundays in the office by appointment. Hospital admissions at Sarasota Memorial Hospital are with the All Children's Pediatrics Affiliates physicians. Because of the specialized care and expertise provided by All Children’s Hospital (in St. Petersburg) our practice will be utilizing this facility as well for circumstances requiring hospitalization of seriously or critically ill children. |
